Petra initially trained as a Sports Massage Therapist, qualifying in 2002 with a diploma in Anatomy & Physiology and certificate in Sports Massage Therapy.  She immediately started work as Massage Therapist in the Living Well Health Club, Hilton Hotel, Belfast.  After 6 months she began work in several large American-owned IT companies treating back, neck and shoulder problems to relieve stress, pain & discomfort.

In early 2004 Petra joined Apex Clinic. While there she completed post-graduate training in Advanced Deep Tissue and Injury Prevention Techniques and Myofascial Release.  Treating patients with post surgical problems stimulated her interest in how massage could benefit scars and scar tissue in general. 

In February and October 2006, Petra travelled to Toronto, Canada and Ann Arbor, Michigan to study Dr Bruno Chikly’s ‘Lymph drainage therapy’, completely parts 1 & 2.  While in Ann Arbor she worked as an intern in CPRS (Centre for Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery) where she was trained by Michigan’s leading Postoperative Scar Massage Therapist in the specialised skills required to treat problematic postoperative and post trauma scarring.  Petra is now the only person in UK and Ireland with these specialised skills.

In August 2007 Petra joined PhysioWorks NI in Gilnahirk, Belfast and her desire to further increase her knowledge of the lymphatic system and to be able to treat patients with lymphoedema, resulted in her studying and receiving certification in the Vodder technique of Manual Lymph Drainage and the Foldi method of Complete Decongestive Therapy (MLD/CDT) with Klose Training and Consulting. Petra is now fully qualified to treat patients with primary and secondary lymphoedema. In June 2011 Petra studied Advanced and Review Lymphoedema Treatment in the famous Foldi Clinic, Hinterzarten, Germany.

Petra has now relocated to London and currently works as an MLD Therapist in the renowned St George’s hospital in Tooting.  She is available to see private patients in the South London area in treatment rooms in Chelsea, Balham, or in the patients own home.  

Petra is a registered member of the British Lymphoedema Society (BLS) and MLD UK.  She is fully insured.
